Iliad are pleased to announce they have submitted a planning application for their latest high specification Student development in Birmingham. The site for the proposed scheme is located in the Aston area of the city directly adjacent to the £40M 656 room Bagot Street student development, which is due for completion next month.
The site will comprise 492 bedrooms including 70 studio rooms arranged as two blocks ranging between 11 and 16 storeys with fantastic views across the city of Birmingham and the neighboring canal.
The proposed site will also feature over 5,000 sq ft of retail space on the ground floor with new public realm, to help create a community hub and enhance commercial enterprises in the area.
Designed by award winning architect Tim Groom of Formroom, the building facades will be clad in contrasting fluttering colours that refract and alter in the changing light, drawing upon the site’s history as a former manufacturing site for the adjacent jewellery quarter.
Planning approval is expected in the autumn of 2011, with working starting on site by the end of the year for a 2013 opening.Back to News
