Iliad are pleased to announce that their latest planning application for a 262 bedroom student accommodation scheme in the RopeWalks area of Liverpool has been confirmed with the proposed name of ‘St Michael’s’.
In addition to the bedroom accommodation, this project will comprise of onsite management facilities, 28 under-croft parking spaces and communal student facilities such as a common room and launderette.
Designed by award winning architect Tim Groom of Formroom. Adjacent to the commercial heart of the city centre, the scheme will provide high specification accommodation designed to create an inspiring environment for students to live and learn. Moving away from conventional student accommodation design, 36 of the rooms will be individual studios which include their own kitchen.
“This project sets a new standard in student accommodation,” said Formroom’s Managing Director, Tim Groom. “The creative design of the scheme, along with the incorporation of quality construction materials, offers a new type of better-quality accommodation for students. We also wanted to incorporate the inherent confidence and personality of the City of Liverpool, so there’s a real playful element to the building that will make it the talking point of the area.”
Combining personality with longevity, the street facing elevations at East Village will be constructed from black brick with traditional Georgian proportioned windows that contain elements of contemporary detailing. Each block will also feature a coloured light around the parapet which allows the building to take on a different persona at night time.
